Hey John,

Life has been really busy. When an MPLS label switched pathed is formed, that is functionally the FEC. When a packet is received on one side of the MPLS network, it decides which FEC (Label switched path) the packet needs to traverse on and then assigns in the appropriate label. The FEC is no longer checked after this.
